Kingsland welcomes a new face to the block; Nanny’s Eatery.
The restaurant showcases an explosive range of flavours straight from the heart of Jamaica and Mexico. The authentic, aromatic and delicious fusion will leave you wanting more. A few signature dishes on the menu are the jerk chicken and pork belly, cooked by a Yardie on site.
Nanny’s creates food for the soul.
Nanny’s is a quaint little spot with a sheltered deck and cosy interior; tucked slightly off the main street, this is an exciting oasis. Leave behind the hustle and bustle of city life and bask in all that Nanny’s has to offer. The music, ambience and flavours will take you on a journey to another world, a delight to the senses in every way possible.
Whether you visit for after-work drinks or stop by for dinner on the weekend, you are guaranteed an unforgettable experience.
Head Chef, JP, and partner in crime, Ange, has reignited the fire in our appetites. Integrating Jamaican culture, family recipes and a whole lot of heat, Nanny’s Eatery was born. The name is an ode to JP’s gramMa and the stories she told about Jamaica’s seven national heroes, Nanny or Queen Nanny. The dream team give a warm welcome to all of those that cross their door.
We promise you will visit again, and again, and again. The menu is incredible. If you are after a light snack or feel like an entrée before the main course, there are countless options to satisfy your hunger. On the menu, you will find popcorn chicken, cauli bites, jalapeno poppers, quesadillas and wings. The latter is jerk Jamaican spice-rubbed grilled chicken, or you can opt for the BBQ deep-fried chicken coated in BBQ sauce.
The main affair is even more delicious, from the legendary jerk chicken to Ital coconut curry, salmon salad and waffle fries’ nachos. Our comfort dish is the rasta pasta, using a delectable creamy cheese sauce with a hint of spice. We highly recommend throwing in a healthy dose of pork or beef.
You will also find a range of burgers on the menu, all served on brioche buns with slaw, fries and your choice of sauce. The burgers are simple yet divine. The Juicy Lucy burger is a beef patty stuffed with cheese and topped with bacon and even more cheese. Perfection. For vegan diners, the Ital burger pairs a homemade vegan patty with caramelised onions, vegan aioli, vegan mozzarella and jalapenos.
We could never deny ourselves the pleasure of dessert. The banana chimichanga is a beautiful creation, served with caramel sauce and French vanilla ice cream; kick it up a notch with a shot of liquor on top.
Challenge yourself to a new level of hot; Nanny’s offers three tiers of heat; spicy, super spicy, and you have to be an idiot! The latter is like nothing you could have imagined. You can choose to put your preferred level of hot sauce on any of the dishes; if you are unsure, ask the helpful waitstaff for their opinion.
Being a whisky and rum bar means visitors can expect a vast range of insane blends and delightfully boozy cocktails. The Knickerbocker is sure to be a crowd-pleaser, made with 1731 Fine & Rare Central American rum, raspberry, lime and dry curacao. For a classic tipple, the best whiskey sour is up for grabs. Another drink not to be missed is the Royal Jamaican alcoholic ginger beer.
Nanny’s Eatery is open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner service. Make sure to book in advance right here.
