6500 meals delivered to the NHS
After shutting their doors in line with the government strategy to stop the spread of coronavirus, the team at 215 Hackney decided to use their resources and abilities to support the NHS staff through this historically difficult time.
As an independent business, 215 Hackney values the common morals of helping the local community. After going into lockdown, they decided to unite and show solidarity. This led to them offering their support to any institutions directly fighting the pandemic.
During the first and second lockdowns, they managed to deliver an incredible 6,500 meals to NHS staff, using £11.2k of their own fundraised money. When they weren’t busy feeding the front line, they also provided kids meals during half term, and even handed out free cakes, hot drinks and mulled wine to their East London community on a lonely lockdown Christmas.
Now, they continue to donate 20% of all profits to WarChild UK, an ongoing partnership they’ve been proud of since day one.
Cemal and Ali are two Kurdish best friends born in Turkey who have lived in Hackney (East London) their whole lives. Together, they launched 215Hackney Cafe/Restaurant serving Middle Eastern Food from Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and Kurdistan.
They decided to partner with WarChild UK to support children affected by wars from all around the world and donate 20% of their profits to the charity.
